Full Steam Ahead

I am in the process of really getting down and dirty about my intentions and issues of my heart. This is not an easy task as it requires me to be very intentional about my feelings and what is causing those feelings. Along with this, I have been meeting with some very influential women about my business and brand. Their ideas have sparked thoughtful, innovative conversations about my future, what I want, and what I am willing to sacrifice.

Lately my time has been sparse and I have had so much to do. I feel like I have 3 full time jobs…my corporate job, my business, and motherhood but time management is my friend. While I enjoy all 3, things came sometimes become overbearing. I have created a schedule where I can get most things done throughout the week. I have decided that I will have to spend less time sleeping and more time working in order to achieve my goals but it will be worthwhile.

I am excited for the future but am living in the present and will reap the rewards of both.

On my mind, In my heart

  1. When personal issues disrupt your business there is an issue. When you don’t keep your word, that is bad business and an issue. When you can’t own up to mistakes there is an issue. Don’t let this be you. Do the right thing, live with integrity, and an over pouring of blessings will come your way.
  2. There was a time in my life where all I had was time and didn’t know what to do with it. Now that I have decided to move forward and pursue a few things I have been wanting to do, I don’t know where I have the time to get anything done. However, I am keeping the faith that all will be provided for me and that time will not be an issue. I am going after the desires of my heart and keeping Hope ALIVE!!!
  3. It is important for me to be intentional with the expression of my feelings and what I want in/from life.
  4. Being able to connect with others through written word only confirms that I am living in my purpose. The gratitude I feel is immeasurable.

Justice Together

Today is the first day of what we hope will be a very productive and effective run for Justice Together. We literally have teams in all 50 states, on 300 college campuses, and in 45 countries around the world. Now though, it’s time to mobilize our intentions into actions.

1. Read about our launch, what it means, and what our next steps are here:

2. If you want to be a part of a local Justice Together team in your state, but have not yet received the invitation to join SLACK (and are not a college student or staff member), please fill this out:

In 2 weeks, we are closing enrollment.

Life’s Randomness

Reading is vital to the writing process. It is one of the most important attributes to have. How can you like to write if you don’t read? They go hand in hand, in my opinion. Not only does it make me a better writer but reading also gives me ideas for new material. I love to read!!!

Words can evoke a multitude of emotions. I try to use my words for good but there are times I have fallen short and regretted it. There is power in words. Choose wisely.

Being authentic and transparent is how I try to live my life. There are times when I felt so misunderstood being me and my actions or words are misinterpreted incorrectly. It used to bother me and I would worry myself sick. At this point in my life, my bandwidth is minimal; so, I do my best to make my intentions clear so nothing will need clarification in the future.

Last but not least, I will triumph over any obstacle because I believe in the Almighty!!

Speak carefully and listen intently

Say what you mean and mean what you say because once your words are in the universe, they cannot be withdrawn. When people talk to me, I make sure to listen and take heed. I take it all in and adjust accordingly. ‪#‎deneledbiggs‬ ‪#‎poetry‬ ‪#‎author‬ ‪#‎speaker‬

Grace, Deal Breakers, and Decisions

There are just a few things on my mind today and I wanted to share.

I, sometimes, get so caught up in distractions and obstacles that I block grace. When I practice consistent gratitude my obstacles become distant and dissolve. I always want the opportunity to grow in grace and be at peace with myself. For the rest of the week let’s make it a point to practice gratitude and be thankful for each situation that comes our way.

Do you know your deal breakers? I used to say I didn’t have any deal breakers but over the years that has definitely changed. I have become less tolerant of situations that deem harmful to my mental, physical, or emotional state. I refuse to go back to where I came from. I have been made new and will only continue to become a better person.

The matters of my heart may not be on the top of your priority list and that’s okay. Just know, that I have learned the importance of me and self-care. So, if I seem distant at times or not that into you, it’s because I am into me and taking care of myself.

Thinking back, I can definitely say that I dodged some bullets. Whew! I am so thankful for the ability to remove myself from certain situations and relationships *insert groovy jig here* Upward and Onward!

Here is an excerpt of one of the poems from, The Unspoken: A Better Life From Lessons Learned

Imagination of Life

Recurring dreams

Bright lights and colors

No sound and loneliness

Reaching and pulling

Sprinting and gasping

Fear and intimidation overcome me

Triumpant Living

Last week I was mentally stuck and drained because of fear. I could just not get out of my own head and was operating in total fear. I was paralyzed and did not do a creative thing. This is not okay, especially when I know I serve a higher power that is greater than anything I’m faced with.

I know I am capable of great things and at time remain stuck in fear and doubt. But as you know trouble does not last forever. Trouble will not own me, I will own it!

I am determined to live triumphantly. I will live boldly and fearlessly because I have the mind of Christ. This is my year. I have so many goals and great things in front of me. Let’s go…
