Today is the first day of what we hope will be a very productive and effective run for Justice Together. We literally have teams in all 50 states, on 300 college campuses, and in 45 countries around the world. Now though, it’s time to mobilize our intentions into actions.

1. Read about our launch, what it means, and what our next steps are here:

2. If you want to be a part of a local Justice Together team in your state, but have not yet received the invitation to join SLACK (and are not a college student or staff member), please fill this out:

In 2 weeks, we are closing enrollment.

Life’s Randomness

20150818_191925-1

Reading is vital to the writing process. It is one of the most important attributes to have. How can you like to write if you don’t read? They go hand in hand, in my opinion. Not only does it make me a better writer but reading also gives me ideas for new material. I love to read!!!

Words can evoke a multitude of emotions. I try to use my words for good but there are times I have fallen short and regretted it. There is power in words. Choose wisely.

Being authentic and transparent is how I try to live my life. There are times when I felt so misunderstood being me and my actions or words are misinterpreted incorrectly. It used to bother me and I would worry myself sick. At this point in my life, my bandwidth is minimal; so, I do my best to make my intentions clear so nothing will need clarification in the future.

Last but not least, I will triumph over any obstacle because I believe in the Almighty!!

Randomness – from the mind of Denele D. Biggs

Every week I post a video of randomness. I just include aimless thoughts that have entered my mind and the topics vary. Here is my latest video that I created this past Wednesday. I hope you enjoy.

Self-care

20150725_153324

#SelfCare is extremely to your health. I don’t just mean getting your hair done or pedi’s and mani’s. I’m talking about truly caring for yourself. Spending time to reflect about things close to your heart, taking time to enjoy silence, making changes in your life that you have placed on the back burner, and getting to know the real you.

I write a lot and consider it part of my self care regimen. It frees me! It gives me and outlet and the ability to express myself in creative way. Not to mention, it is very relaxing.

What ways do you care for yourself?

Remember to love yourself and take time for you.

Expression

20150725_121708

I am an extroverted introvert. However, if I have something that needs to be heard I have no problem expressing myself. Over time, I’ve learned when to keep my mouth shut and just let the universe work. This is especially true when matters of the heart are involved. ‪#‎deneledbiggs‬ ‪#‎theunspoken‬ ‪#‎poetry‬ ‪#‎author‬ ‪#‎speaker‬

WE
What am I to you
What are you to me
Our actions reflect one
but we speak another
Visions of us as one
constantly prance through my mind
I come back to reality
What I visualize is just a dream
How do I contain myself, my emotions
when you are near
Knowing that I always want you here
Nature must take its course
Maybe one day we will see
Why our crossing paths
Is meant to be

Purging and Being Free

20150625_094533-1

When you are free, you won’t recognize the person you were before. I can’t fathom being the old me and am so grateful for God’s grace and mercy. It was only the creator who was able to make that change.

Think about you in your present from and you from the past. How have you changed? Was it for the better?

Every once in a while a good purge is needed. Get rid of all that is currently holding you down or is not needed. This can include material possessions, people, negativity, etc. You will feel so much better once it’s gone.

Speak carefully and listen intently

20150728_180100

Say what you mean and mean what you say because once your words are in the universe, they cannot be withdrawn. When people talk to me, I make sure to listen and take heed. I take it all in and adjust accordingly. ‪#‎deneledbiggs‬ ‪#‎poetry‬ ‪#‎author‬ ‪#‎speaker‬

Grace, Deal Breakers, and Decisions

11822881_10207052012240287_8554393267719378836_o

There are just a few things on my mind today and I wanted to share.

I, sometimes, get so caught up in distractions and obstacles that I block grace. When I practice consistent gratitude my obstacles become distant and dissolve. I always want the opportunity to grow in grace and be at peace with myself. For the rest of the week let’s make it a point to practice gratitude and be thankful for each situation that comes our way.

Do you know your deal breakers? I used to say I didn’t have any deal breakers but over the years that has definitely changed. I have become less tolerant of situations that deem harmful to my mental, physical, or emotional state. I refuse to go back to where I came from. I have been made new and will only continue to become a better person.

The matters of my heart may not be on the top of your priority list and that’s okay. Just know, that I have learned the importance of me and self-care. So, if I seem distant at times or not that into you, it’s because I am into me and taking care of myself.

Thinking back, I can definitely say that I dodged some bullets. Whew! I am so thankful for the ability to remove myself from certain situations and relationships *insert groovy jig here* Upward and Onward!

Here is an excerpt of one of the poems from, The Unspoken: A Better Life From Lessons Learned

Imagination of Life

Recurring dreams

Bright lights and colors

No sound and loneliness

Reaching and pulling

Sprinting and gasping

Fear and intimidation overcome me

I’ve missed you!

The Unspoken-Book Cover

It’s been too long since I’ve last blogged. For those that do not know, my first book was published on May 14th….WOOHOO!!!

The Unspoken: A Better Life From Lessons Learned” is a powerful collection of poetry that provides nourishment to the soul. Intentionally, yet unapologetically vulnerable, this poetry captures the silent and not-‐so-‐silent echoes
from the heart. These melodic echoes become stirred once confronted with our emotions based on varying life circumstances. Through triumphs and even tears, once learned, these valuable lessons ultimately help create a better
life.

I am still so proud of myself for accomplishing this goal after so many years. I have been extremely busy over the past few months and at times it feels too good to be true. My plate is FULL…with a FT job, being a single mother, and my book…can you say tired?

In the midst of all that is happening, I am continuing to write and aiming to be my most authentic self. Have you ever felt like every experience you have gone through has been worth it? That is exactly where I am, right NOW. I am grateful for everyone and everything that has entered and exited my life. This natural high that have is giving me so much…LIFE…HA!

The support I have received with the release of my collection of poetry, “The Unspoken: A Better Life From Lessons Learned” has been more than words can describe. I am overwhelmed and extremely elated.

Don’t forget to place your order for the hottest book in the streets right now, “The Unspoken: A Better Life From Lessons Learned”. 🙂
